#TRAVELINGTINK x BARON'S COVE - SAG HARBOR, NEW YORK

The Hamptons - could there be a more perfect place to spend Memorial Day weekend? This lovely set of coastal villages is a favorite escape from the busy streets of New York and many notable artists and writers have lived here. It’s THE spot to go on Memorial Day weekend - which is exactly what my human and I did.

We took a trip to the luxurious Baron’s Cove Resort in Sag Harbor - and we immediately fell in love with it. This waterfront spot has an impressive history of hosting many great artists and writers including Kurt Vonnegut, Jackson Pollock, Truman Capote and John Steinbeck. It’s an incredibly beautiful hotel - I loved the all-American nautical decor, with a relaxing white, gray and blue color palette. From the moment we arrived, the staff made my human and I feel very special.

At Baron’s Cove Hotel, dogs are welcomed in style. After all, this is the hotel where Steinbeck began his travels with his canine companion in the book Travels with Charley. It’s a beloved travelogue about Steinbeck exploring the USA in the 1960s with his poodle. (If Instagram had existed back then, I bet Charley would have had tons of followers!)

They have gorgeous Village Garden Rooms where pups are allowed to stay with their owners. These dog-friendly rooms are available each night and must be booked ahead of time by calling the hotel. They are located on the first floor and they are stylish and elegant, with big plush king-sized beds. We absolutely loved our room!

Baron’s Cove offers the Travels with Charley dog package, which really makes four legged guests feel like VIPs. The special treatment includes breakfast for two every day, a copy of Travels with Charley and the Dog Welcome Kit.

What did the kit include, you ask?

A cozy dog bed, food and water bowls, a floor mat, disposable waste bags, a special dog treat AND a frisbee to keep. Also, there’s an adorable little “Dog in Room” hanger you can use on your front door. Needless to say, I felt pretty pampered! (Plus, my human and I got to enjoy the Memorial Day BBQ in the fabulous adirondack chairs watching the yachts pass by.)

Sag Harbor is such a perfect pet-friendly getaway. It’s a wonderful place to go for walks - with fresh sea breezes to sniff and lots of relaxing green spaces to explore. There are many restaurants with waterfront outdoor patios, perfect for dining with your pooch. Dogs are allowed in most public parks and there are even places where they can swim.

You can even take one of the complimentary resort bikes out and go for an invigorating ride along the marina. The little basket on the front of the bike was just the right size for me, so I rode along with my human and let her do the work while I admired the view!

Although we also spent plenty of time relaxing and recharging at the hotel. The big cozy beds, stylish decor and luxurious amenities made my human and I feel right at home. Cheers to Baron’s Cove for carrying on Charley and John Steinbeck’s legacy of pup-friendly travel!
